1.5 pounds of ham ( I usually just grab a ham 'slab' and add some 'turkey ham' )

7 quarts of chicken stock - as an alternative you can use the cubes, but add one extra beef cube).

1 big onion.

6 or more garlic cloves

1/2 pound of carrots.

1/2 stick of butter.

2 bay leaves

salt and pepper to taste (or cayenne or all)

Take all of the 'dry' ingredients (ham, onion, garlic, carrots, etc) and fry them. Fry them until you get a good paste on the bottom of the pan. Add 1 cup of water and all of your broth (if using cubes). Let that simmer for another 15 minutes or until you get a good bottom 'scum' on the pan. Then add the water and wait until it boils. Add in the drained rinsed split peas ( a pound ) ...

Let it cool for a few hours before you freeze/fridge etc.

THAT is two weeks of food.

LOL. I do enjoy split pea though. For whatever reason, the Campbell's Chunky version always upsets my stomach. All the other easily found canned versions either don't have ham, or just aren't very good. I only get a decent version once or twice per year at my parent's place.

If I ever head to your place I'll ensure to bring a gallon of mine.
