NVidia has announced new Ampere GPUs and the GeForce RTX 3090, 3080 and 3070 graphics cards that will use them.

The actual cards will begin trickling out in a few weeks.

Before rushing out to buy a $700 GeForce RTX 2080 that appears likely to slightly exceed the previous generation's $1250+ Turing-based RTX 2080Ti in non-raytracing performance and bring substantially improved ray-tracing, It would be nice to know what the competition will be. The fact that NVidia lowered prices on the 3080 and 3070 compared to the previous generation while raising the price of their top-performing card gives us a strong indication of where they expect competition.

AMD hasn't provided many details on new RDNA2 graphics cards, but they have told us that they will be released before the end of the year. This article sums up what is known and speculated about RDNA2: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/amd-b ... ll-we-know

GeForce RTX 3070 release has been delayed by two weeks to 10/29. That's probably to respond to AMD's RDNA2 launch event on 10/28.
