I spent a 1 hundo on mine, does what I want, email, phone calls and text.
What would ever make you want to pay 1k on a phone? I could buy a crappy desktop *and* a laptop for that.
Does anyone here actually spend 1k for a phone?

I start to balk at around $350. I've never spent more than $400 on a phone, either for myself or a family member.
My 6s Plus was originally $850+tax, but I was on my parents family plan at the time, and Verizon did some jacking around with the numbers. It was like $38/mo for 24 months, but then they knock off $25 as a credit each month, so the actual net cost was around $320. Considering I'll be using it a full 6 years, that's a solid deal.
Right now I'm on a standalone $35 pre-paid. Non-family contract plans are at least double that, and don't make sense when you do the numbers. Even if they were to subsidize the phone the same amount, it would still be a net loss to move off my pre-paid. So it looks like next time around I'll be paying full-boat retail. Maybe I'll get a 12 Mini when they become last-year's model.
